Some Definitions:
Moodle--is an open source (free) software that Reynoldsburg City Schools is using as the framework to develop online learning classes called Reynoldsburg Cyber-Learning Center.

Class--a class can be as simple as a list of websites divided out by topic or as complicated as an entire class complete with chats, workshops, journaling and quizzes etc. It is up to the user!

Blend Model of Instruction: This type of model has on-line components as well as a face to face component. Learning can and should continue outside the classroom, on-line learning is a tool for teachers to use to enhance teaching and learning no matter the location of the learner. It is not meant to replace the teacher.
Why would I want to create a "class" online?
You will no longer be involved in the following conversations:
-
What did I miss yesterday?....or last week? or last term?
-
I don't have my homework because....
-
Student A is in detention, we need a work packet for him/her....
-
I turned it that assignment, you must have lost it....
....because the answer is always the same...it is on-line and time stamped!
You can give formative short cycle assessments on-line and have the results immediately!
Shy students will have a venue to express themselves through journaling, forums and live chats.
